December 3-5, 2021
After being put on the back burner for the past few years, the Fêtes de la Sainte Barbe are set to light up Lens-Liévin once again. Due to be held between December 3 and 5, the three-day tribute to the patron saint of miners, firefighters and artillerymen, will feature a packed bill of performances, dazzling parades and, to cap it all off, a torch-lit procession. Thanks to the clever use of video mapping, the festival will shine a light on the area’s coal-mining heritage, offering a glimpse of life down the pits. Revellers will also get a flavour of bygone days with a bumper tasting of briquets, miners’ traditional lunch of bread and cheese.
